Palmetto State Park Camping Trip

Wednesday Nov. 25 2009

Today the Mallette's and my family are going to Palmetto state park for 3 nights. This will be a first for the Mallette's and their 7 children. This will sort of be a first for my family as my husband is headed to Iraq and we have never been camping without him. We will be staying in tents and sleepling bags. My mom went out early in the day to check in and leave a few things for our trip. She and her husband and 2 dogs will be joining us on Friday. The children and I worked all day to prepare for our trip to Palmetto State Park. I realize now that James does most of the work to get us ready to go camping. The Mallete's left at approxiately 11 am and their 2 hour journey to the park. We were suppose to leave when I got out of school at 2, but school ran a little long so we didn't get on the road until after 3. I arrived at the camp site after dark. I did not remember our regular flash light, but did have the propane lantern. (this was as primitive as I felt comfortable going with the children). We found the lantern in the pile of things in the car you would be amazed at what has to be brought to take one adult and 3 children camping. The picture to the left is the end result. We finished setting up camp and started toward the fire. It was already a little chilly. I was wondering if we had truely prepared for the temperatures. Everyone was excited that first night, but also tired. We headed to bed around 8.

  1. Yes, I secured our camp sights, brought MOST of the stuff you needed and totally confused the poor park attendant. It’s tuff getting old, but that is my excuse.
